Old Friends Senior Dog Sanctuary in Need of Donations for New Move

In our last Featured Rescue Friday, we featured the wonderful Old Friends Senior Dog Sanctuary, a Forever Foster Home based Sanctuary in Mount Juliet, Tennessee.

Recently, this fantastic organization has come under hard times. After complaints from nearby neighbors that the sanctuary was growing too large for the area, the county zoning board has given Old Friends Senior Dog Sanctuary 60 days to move all of their operations including over 50 senior dogs to a new location.

60 days, as you can imagine, is a tight time crunch to find a new place and relocate everything.

Old Friends Senior Dog Sanctuary wants to stress that this change will ultimately be a positive one. They are excited to be moving to a new, bigger location. This will allow for them to take in more dogs as well as allow more volunteers and forever foster families to visit. There is no word on any final plans yet, but they have said that they will “ensure that everyone ends up in an environment as wonderful as they have now.”

Even though this change is ultimately a positive one for the rescue, moving on such short notice does come with concerns.

So how can you help?

In order to help with this transition process, as well as avoid any fines or legal penalties, they are greatly in need of donations.

Currently, they are accepting donations by credit card, Paypal, or check at:

You can also participate in their Dog Art for Old Friends Auction which is running now through September 14.

This is an online auction where you can purchase decorated dogs that have been painted by artists from both the local Nashville area as well as all over the world. All of the proceeds raised from this auction go directly to the sanctuary to “expand and enhance” as well as “to care for senior dogs at the sanctuary and in Forever Foster Homes.”

Old Friends Senior Dog Sanctuary is optimistic about the future. With the help of your donations and kind support, they “will come out stronger and better and in a position to help more Old Friends on the other side. “
